Don't Judge a Trailer Park by its Cover!

This is about my friend Kara. If you are familiar with my blog then you may recall a post about her previously. I love her dearly but she does have some unique qualities. First of all she doesn't like dirt or mess......in an OCD way. When her kids were little she would literally get the vacuum out and vacuum each CHILD before they got up from the table so they wouldn't get crumbs any where. Secondly, she is 5 star kinda gal.....she has really good taste and enjoys the finer things in life.

A couple of weeks ago she she told me that her husband wanted to buy a 5th wheel....she asked me if I knew what that was because she had never heard of one of those before. I knew that this was a camper, but I was absolutely shocked...because I feel sure that the words "camper" and "Kara" had NEVER been used in the same sentence EVER. I laughed...for a LONG time and the I asked her where they were going to keep it....(she lives in a neighborhood that would for real put a lien on their house if they tried to keep a trailer in their driveway). SO, she tells me that they are going to keep it in a trailer/RV neighborhood.....called Bama Park. Ok, don't get me wrong....I am in NO way a snob. In fact, our lake house is a double wide trailer....in a less than perfect neighborhood. And Bama Park is very nice. It has a beach area and all kinds of fun things. The reason this is so shocking and at the same time hysterical is because it is KARA....in a Super deluxe 5th wheel, but a 5th wheel nonetheless....IN Bama Park, but a trailer park nonetheless!

So we went to visit them in their new abode and I discovered (because i have never actually been there before) that Bama Park was a gated trailer park community. We had to punch in a code to enter. When I saw Kara she gave me a tour of their camper and I must say it was very cool. My favorite part, I do believe was that the door had a remote control so you could click the button to unlock the door ( even though you could just turn around and do it by hand because, after all...how big is a camper anyway) but still my inner geeky-self LOVED that option!

When I told Kara how impressive it was that her trailer park was a gated community she looked at me with a puzzled look and said "aren't they all?" Really....how many times on national news when a tornado swept another trailer park away in Alabama did they show where the gatew was blown away??

The point to this post is that people who live in trailers (even if it is only on the weekends) are not always the typical Alabama tornado victim with no teeth and limited decipherable English who are ALWAYS interviewed on National News...until next time:)
