Friends don't let "old people who think they are hip" Facebook without supervision

While I was taking my son over to his friend's house, I saw 3 little boys waving signs around at their Lemonade stand. As I looked closer, I realized it was my friend Melanie, 2 of her sons and her nephew. I pulled over, bought some lemonade and sat down and talked to my old friend who I haven't seen in forever.

As we talked, we heard cars coming and Mel would yell "wave your signs and make a real sad face....that way people will feel sorry for you and buy your lemonade!" Let me be clear....Melanie's degree is in education....NOT marketing!

As I sat there listening to her share her insightful marketing strategies, I was reminded of her unfortunate foray into the hip world of Facebook. Let's just say she is not a techy kinda gal...so she joined FB. She saw that one of her friend's mom had just passed away so she quoted her a scripture and put LOL. Her friend was very confused and sent her back a message. Mel had no idea why she had offended her friend until her 12 year old son saw it and told her how rude she was laughing at such a sad thing....Mel said " All I told her was an uplifting scripture and lots of love...." . Ok Mel, in 1971 LOL may have meant lots of love...but not in this century. To add injury to insult, she quoted the wrong scripture. The gist of what she told that poor girl was to step away from evil.

The point of this post is with Facebook friends like that...who needs enemies.....until next time :)
