So, if you have read my post from yesterday morning then you will not be surprised that I have watched my fair share of tv in last 2 days. The show that has left me speechless is "My Big Fat Gyspy Wedding". Now, my friends in the UK have been hiding this jewel of a show. It makes "Toddlers and Tiaras" look like a perfectly normal lifestyle! MBFGW is a show about Gyspies or Travellers (as they also like to be called) in the UK. The show says that this lifestyle has been around for generations in the UK but I must say when I lived in N. Ireland and England I say nary a one!
I watched 2 hours of this show and I wont lie...there were many, many, many, moments of awe and astonishment...but I will only tell you about my 2 favorite parts. The first was when all the 6 year-olds were having their 1st communion ( which was 2 years early because they were being
evicted from their illegal shanty town trailer park and would never see each other again) and they had spray tans (which made them look like oommpalummpas). They where in their "wedding/communion gowns" and then changed into their stripper costumes. They had a big party and all the 6 year-olds were "dropping it like it was hot" on the dance floor. It looked like they had been intensely studying the "flirt girl fitness" DVD series and had mastered it. I see a definate career path for these girl.
My second favorite was when the "outsider non Gyspy girl" married a Gyspy. They made her a dress that I feel sure weighed more the the 17 year old bride. The best part was they put lights all in the dress (now I know where Kid Rock got his idea) and one of the Gyspies or dare I say Traveller carried around a fire extinguisher because they were afraid it might catch on fire. I am sooo serious....I didn't make any of this up!
The point of this post is if someone has to carry around a fire extinguisher because your traditional wedding dress might catch on fire....you might want to re-think that marriage and lifestyle....until next time :)
I thought he would say Chris because he knows who will feed him! Enjoying the blog~
